On March 18, 2017 at the Champlain Valley Exposition Center in Essex Junction, Vermont, a team of youth from Flood Brook School competed in the 10th Annual Jr Iron Chef event. Lini Mazumdar coached students Halyn McIntyre, Alex Wasyliko, and Stella Turner.

The team had ninety minutes to prepare their dish, vegetarian samosas with cilantro and mint chutney. The dish was so enjoyable that the judges awarded the team with the Crowd Pleaser Award for the dish that best incorporates color, texture and taste for a true crowd pleaser.

Coach Lini began working with the team in January to develop their cooking techniques and help them work together in the kitchen. The team was also supported by Flood Brook School’s Chef Kelly Foster and food donated by Clark’s IGA.
